AMX and University Business Announce 2015 Innovation Award Finalists

19 Schools Vying for Top Honors and Over $100,000 in AMX Technology

RICHARDSON Texas – May 26, 2015 – HARMAN's AMX® and University Business are thrilled to announce the list of 19 finalists selected for the 2015 AMX Innovation Awards at UBTech. This year brought in some of the most brilliant and imaginative entries in the program's history and from a wide range of universities located throughout the world.

This exclusive global awards program is designed to recognize higher education institutions for their innovative uses of technology to further AV/IT convergence, spur learning in a variety of traditional and non-traditional ways and make campuses more efficient and/or effective.

All 2015 Innovation Award finalists and winners will have their submissions recognized in this year's Innovation Awards Pavilion, which is located at UBTech 2015, being held June 15 - 17 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Finalists and winners will also be recognized by University Business and AMX in a variety of online recognition venues. And, AMX will be honoring the four winning submissions with $25,000 each in AMX technology. Congratulations to all of this year's competing finalists:

  • Campus Impact – AV/IT convergence allows universities to positively impact the campus in a variety of ways. These installations celebrate overall campus impact. Congratulations to these 2015 Campus Impact Finalists:
    • Colorado School of Mines
    • Deakin University
    • George Washington University
    • Northern Michigan University
    • University of Queensland
  • Active Learning Classroom – Whether disruptive, flipped, or flexible, these installations use technology to foster collaboration and active learning. Congratulations to these 2015 Active Learning Classroom finalists:
    • Auburn University
    • Temple University
    • University of Queensland
    • University of Richmond
    • Western Carolina
    • West Virginia University
  • Non-traditional Learning Spaces – These installations use technology to further the educational experience in a non-traditional learning space such as a huddle space or a library. Congratulations to these 2015 Non-traditional Learning Spaces finalists:
    • Memorial University, Faculty of Medicine
    • Stanford University School of Medicine
    • University of Ottawa
    • University of Rochester
  • Beyond Learning Spaces – Campuses are comprised of more than learning spaces. These installations could be building types a campus communication system or other installations that go beyond learning. Congratulations to these 2015 Beyond Learning Spaces finalists:
    • Arizona State University
    • University of Greenwich
    • University of Ottawa
    • Wake Forest
The four AMX Innovation Award winners will be announced at 4:15pm June 15, following the UBTech Grand Opening Keynote at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel. AMX is also excited that it will be awarding a second annual Innovation Awards People's Choice Award this year. UBTech 2015 attendees are invited to visit the Innovation Awards Pavilion during their visit to the show floor on June 16 to select their favorite among the 19 finalists. The most votes will determine the winner, which will be announced at the UBTech Closing Keynote Address on Wednesday morning, June 17.
