Comprehensive Technical Group, LLC Regrets to Announce the Passing of Former Employee

Article posted on April 22, 2016

It is with great sadness that Comprehensive Technical Group, LLC announces that former employee and friend Sam Arnold passed away this week from Parkinson’s disease.  He leaves behind his beloved wife Jo and his extended family.

Sam was well known in the broadcast industry and had a broad knowledge of the industry from his more than 50 years in the industry.  He was born in Memphis, Tennessee.  Throughout his career, Sam worked at a number of companies that included: EWTN, Channel 31 WAFG-TV, Sony, Southern Digital Products, Inc., and Crescent Communications.  He finished his career at Comprehensive Technical Group (CTG).

His Early Days at WAFG-TV Channel 31

Sam was one of the very first employees of Channel 31 in 1960 when the station was WAFG-TV in Huntsville, Alabama.  He directed news casts, Romper Room and even taped shows like the Schlitz's (Joe Adams) "Gone Fishin'" show.  He also shot and processed film, slides (all black & white of course), wrote and produced commercials, as well as managed a master control room.

Sam worked at Southern Digital Products, Inc. as a Sales Representative for 8 years.  He was responsible for sales to television networks, TV stations, houses of worship, educational institutions and corporations.  His former boss and owner of the company, Walter Bridges remembers Arnold fondly.  “Sam was Salesman of the Year in 4 of the 8 full years that he worked at the company.  He was one of the hardest working people that I’ve known.  He was honest and loyal.”

Sam worked at Comprehensive Technical Group for the years of 2011- 2015.  His former colleague Cliff Scott, states “He was a brilliant engineer and that helped him in sales.  He also was a man of his word and he had a dry sense of humor.”

Comprehensive Technical Group mourns over the loss of Sam Arnold and expresses its condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of Sam.
