Is there a way to lure the top gamers on the planet away from their own bedrooms or living rooms, into the outside world? Sure there is! A record-breaking 113,000 gamers travelled to Katowice, Poland, in March for this year’s 10th edition of the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship – the world’s biggest eSports tournament. Just like in previous years, Barco was there too!

Record-breaking attendance

The three-day event saw 113,000 game aficionados stream into Katowice’s Spodek arena and IEM Expo, with the finals of taking place in front of 10,000 fans in the sold-out stadium. In addition, more than 34 million unique viewers around the world watched the finals on TV.

To truly impress this massive audience, the organizers had called in the help of audiovisual expert ARAM Multimedia – one of Poland’s leading AV and lighting rental companies. ARAM took care of the planning, design and technical production of all five stages, including the giant main stage for announcements and prize-winning ceremonies, and 11 exhibition booths.

They provided a stunning backdrop to the nerve-racking gaming activities and price-winning ceremonies that no virtual game could compare to.
