Innovative products bridge the gap between the matrix and the network
MONTREAL — Feb. 24, 2020 — The SDVoE Alliance® today announced Lightware Visual Engineering, a leading manufacturer of high-end signal management solutions, has joined the alliance as a contributing member.
At ISE 2020, Lightware featured two new solutions that benefit from SDVoE™ connectivity. The Taurus UCX Switcher for Huddle Spaces uses SDVoE extension to enable BYOD functionality. The MX2M Modular Matrix Switcher will soon feature SDVoE input and output cards to connect the matrix switch to the network.
"There are many options out there, but SDVoE is absolutely the right technology for us. We have a lot of plans for leveraging SDVoE in innovative new ways,” said Jason Tirado, president of Lightware, Inc. “It is an honor to be a part of the SDVoE Alliance and our customers are very enthusiastic about this announcement. It feels like riding a wave.”
“We are thrilled to have Lightware join the SDVoE ecosystem,” said Justin Kennington, president of the SDVoE Alliance. “Their truly global presence through a wide network of support offices and distributors will help spread ”The Matrix Transformed” philosophy to their large customer base who are the drivers of the AV industry – engineers, system designers, installers and AV rental experts.”
All AV distribution and processing applications that demand zero-latency and uncompromised video can benefit from SDVoE technology, which provides an end-to-end hardware and software platform for AV extension, switching, processing and control through advanced chipset technology, common control APIs and interoperability. SDVoE network architectures are based on off-the-shelf Ethernet switches, thus offering substantial cost savings and greater system flexibility and scalability over traditional approaches, such as point-to-point extension and circuit-based AV matrix switching.
Lightware Visual Engineering is a 20-year-old manufacturer of high-end signal management solutions based in Budapest, Hungary. Lightware designs, engineers and manufactures a wide array of products including matrix switchers, extenders, distribution amplifiers, and controllers.
Because Lightware is an engineering driven company, we are able to lead the industry with exciting new developments. Examples of our inventions include the world’s first DVI matrices, EDID management tools and uncompressed delivery of 4K/UHD over an IP network. Seventy percent of our employees are engineers and 80% of our engineers have master’s degrees or better. Our founder and CEO is an engineer and he continues to lead our development efforts. About the SDVoE Alliance
SDVoE is an initialism for “Software Defined Video over Ethernet”. The SDVoE Alliance is a non-profit consortium of technology providers collaborating to standardize the adoption of Ethernet to transport AV signals in professional AV environments, and to create an ecosystem around SDVoE technology allowing software to define AV applications. The alliance participates in tradeshows and conferences, publishes white papers and case studies and promotes SDVoE technology, and solutions based on the technology, to system integrators, designers and consultants. Training and installer certification are also part of the mandate. The SDVoE Alliance founding members are Aquantia, Christie Digital, NETGEAR, Semtech, Sony and ZeeVee. All interested parties are invited to join the alliance and work toward its goals. For more information, visit sdvoe.org or connect with us on Twitter @SDVoE and the SDVoE blog.
