Why Digital Signage is Now the Standard for Retailers

From interactive kiosks to digital menu boards to outdoor displays, digital signage is a powerful way to create brand consistency, drive sales and loyalty, as well as keep customers informed and safe. With digital signage, businesses can easily and regularly update their displays to ensure they are providing the most up-to-date information to their customers.

Keep reading to learn more about how digital signage has become the new standard for businesses — whether it’s for retail, restaurants, QSRs, or anything in between.

Weather Durability

Solutions designed for outdoor usage must reach a specific set of standards in order to ensure the longevity of the product and justify the investment. Most outdoor displays are all-weather rated (IP66 or higher), meaning they are designed to withstand harsh elements and temperatures.

In addition, visibility is an important factor to consider when installing an outdoor display. Displays that are equipped with an ambient light sensor are ideal because they will adjust brightness all day long and in all types of weather conditions. The appropriate display will ensure that customers can easily read branded content, promotions, and more, whether it’s sunny or cloudy.

Content Quality

Outdoor displays allow businesses to display their content in a fun and engaging way. Displays with a clear, crisp picture, at least 2,500nits, and full HD resolution ensure an easy and satisfying experience for customers. Optically bonded, anti-reflective cover class also cuts down on glare and allows for prefect visibility even when viewed through polarized sunglasses.

When ordering at a drive-thru, for example, consumers are looking for a menu that is bright, colorful, and most importantly, easy to read. Having an outdoor display that meets consumers’ needs, no matter the application, will help increase the messaging effectiveness and promote sales.

Flexibility

Outdoor digital menu boards allow coffee shops, quick-service/fast-casual restaurants, pharmacies, and any business with a drive-thru to efficiently and remotely change promotions, prices, and highlighted items.

With advanced features, digital menu boards allow for menu swaps throughout the day (think breakfast, lunch, and dinner!). It’s important to ensure that your digital menu allows for editing from anywhere so that they will continue working even if your network is down. This is particularly beneficial for restaurants with multiple locations, time zone differences, or separate menus and special offerings.

The same can be said for outdoor displays used for advertising, or outdoor kiosks used for wayfinding. These solutions in general are all an important tool that restaurants and businesses can use to improve efficiency, create consistent messaging and branding, and much more.
