Avian Solutions (AVNS), the strategic system integrator partner of the KULTIK cinema chain, installed Romania’s first dvLED DCI display in 2024, pioneering a groundbreaking technology that transformed the cinema experience in the region. Building on this expertise, AVNS contributed to the development of the KULTIK TELEKOM HeyLED VIP cinema in Budapest, Hungary, in 2025, where cutting-edge LED cinema technology was paired with Lightware’s solutions to create an unparalleled viewing experience.
KULTIK’s goal was to strengthen its market position through an innovative installation that offers superior brightness and image quality compared to traditional projector technology. The HeyLED DCI LED display, featuring a 9x4.5 meter viewable area certified for cinema use, was installed in Auditorium 2 of KULTIK Csepel. This multifunctional space accommodates 150 viewers and supports 2D and 3D screenings as well as alternative content, including gaming events.
One of the greatest advantages of LED cinemas is the tiny, self-illuminating LED pixels that operate without backlighting. This delivers true black levels and high contrast, significantly enhancing the viewer’s experience. The display comprises 81 panels with custom optical lenses to protect against external impact. With a resolution of 2K (2048×1080 pixels), combined with an appropriate viewing distance, it delivers an optimized experience to cinema audiences.
A major challenge during the project was managing alternative, non-DCI standard signal sources, including Blu-ray players and gaming consoles. Seamless playback of these sources was essential for the versatile use of the auditorium.
The MMX2-4x3-H20 HDMI 2.0 matrix switcher was deployed to handle high-bandwidth signals up to 4K60 4:4:4. With HDCP 2.2 compliance and advanced EDID management, this device ensures seamless compatibility between various sources, and the DCI-certified HeyLED display. Its low latency and high reliability enable smooth signal switching, while the user-friendly control software simplifies system monitoring and configuration, making it the ideal choice for this complex AV environment.
The Lightware solution also enables a dedicated “gamer port,” linking the matrix switcher and controller directly to the LED display and Dolby CP950 cinema audio processor, ensuring flawless integration of multiple signal sources. Its reliability, intuitive control, and flexibility are crucial to the smooth operation of the AV system. As a result, KULTIK Csepel became Hungary’s first LED cinema, delivering brighter, sharper images to audiences while also serving as a multifunctional entertainment venue. Lightware’s solutions reduced operational risk, increased system flexibility, and helped establish KULTIK as a unique, competitive cinema experience in the market.
