Strategy Series II Ceiling Loudspeakers Get Plenum Rating

FAP Adds UL Listing
Strategy Series II Ceiling Loudspeakers Get Plenum Rating

PHOENIX, AZ– Atlas Sound is now shipping UL 2043 rated versions of their most popular and often specified speakers in the FAP Strategy II Series.

UL 2043 sets requirements for loudspeakers used in air handling (true plenum) spaces. Plenum spaces, above drop ceilings, are ideal for speaker placement and installations; however, this space presents a safety concern because fire, smoke, and toxic fumes from damaged electronics can be distributed through the natural air conditioning/heater air flow. The UL 2043 standard tests electronics in fire and other hazard conditions to verify that they present no added risk or danger, ensuring that your installation complies with all necessary precautions and codes and, more importantly, maintains the safety of the building’s occupants.

Other than the added UL listing, these new models offer the same features and reliability as the familiar and widely accepted FAP series already available. Their superior performance, wide dispersion, and easy installation will satisfy the needs of owners, architects, contractors, and consultants by delivering true, high fidelity sound reproduction in high-intelligibility voice, music, and signal reproduction in commercial, industrial, and institutional applications. Existing versions of all FAP models are UL Listed under standard 1480 to meet fire code requirements for most in ceiling applications where air returns are ported to HVAC systems via ductwork (non plenum).

Because of their wide coverage pattern, models FAP42T-UL2043 and FAP62T-UL2043 are suited for many applications including those with low ceilings while the low profile FAP42TC-UL2043 features a shorter enclosure design that is especially helpful when vertical space is limited above the ceiling material.

“The new UL2043 FAP models will allow our dealers to use of the most popular, best sounding ceiling speakers in the industry available in nearly every ceiling type,” said Steve Young, Atlas Sound VP of Sales of Marketing. “This will make specifying a speaker where strict building requirements need the 2043 listing much easier for our loyal customer base.”

Visit Atlas Sound at the InfoComm Expo in Orlando, FL June 17-19, 2009 at booth #6201. Atlas Sound UL listed FAP series speakers are available now.
