Cineplanet selects Barco and Bardan to outfit current and future cinemas with Barco projectors
Posted on Thursday, April 18, 2013

Rancho Cordova, Calif., USA – 18 April 2013 – Barco, a global leader in digital cinema technology, in collaboration with Bardan Cinema, a full service distributor and digital cinema integrator serving Latin America, is helping Cineplex S.A./Cineplanet to elevate the quality of cinema entertainment in Peru and Chile with new ultra-bright DLP Cinema projectors. To fulfill the specialized needs of the exhibitor’s smaller theaters, Barco is providing many of its new purpose-built DP2K-10Sx projectors with integrated media servers.

Peru has been experiencing exponential growth in cinema admissions during the past decade, with ticket sales increasing 185 percent in the last seven years according to the latest estimates from Cinedatos Peru’s research. While much of the growth can be attributed to the urbanization and expanding economies of the country’s major cities, growing interest in cinema can also be attributed to modernization of theaters with premium amenities and 3D technology. Cineplex S.A., which owns both Cineplanet and Movieland circuits in Peru and Chile, respectively, is one of the progressive circuits dedicated to enhancing the moviegoing experience to build loyal patronages for its 28 sites, with more on the way.

Top-notch customer care
“We chose Barco and Bardan for our deployment because what we are buying is excellence in post-sale service,” comments Fernando Soriano, CEO for Cineplex S.A. “It is not only important to have the latest generation in projection equipment; it is essential to have a team of professionals willing to attend to our needs when we require, with the best attitude, and we have that with both Bardan and Barco.”

Barco provides 24/7/365 onsite technical support through local service teams, with parts conveniently available from eight locations in Latin America. In addition, Barco’s installation and advanced service certification training is available in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Mexico City, Mexico; and Sacramento, California.

Dedicated to full service integration and support
Like Barco, Bardan maintains a keen dedication to the full continuum of customer support, from site planning to projector selection, sales and installation, to comprehensive technical assistance.

“We have always strived to provide our customers with an integrated and cost-effective solution to their growing entertainment needs; and are working diligently with Barco towards delivering the ultimate image quality at the lowest TCO,” comments Vilma Benitez, Vice President for Bardan Cinema. “We are proud to have received the continued confidence of our valued customers like Cineplanet in their significant transition to digital conversion.”

Bardan also manages cinema monitoring services for Cineplanet through its affiliation with Ballantyne Strong and DGT Cinema, the largest cinema integrator in Latin America.

“We are focused on serving the unique needs of our cinema customers in Latin America and Cineplanet is a shining example of the type of high-quality movie entertainment patrons can expect from forward-thinking exhibitors like them,” comments Ney Corsino, Vice President for Barco Latin America.
