The Z-5/D is a self-powered high- efficiency bass horn loudspeaker featuring a single 18" low frequency driver loaded in a folded tractrix horn enclosure. The cabinet is made from 18mm Baltic Birch and is finished in black, textured polyurethane coating. It is optimized for high impact and superior definition, with response from 40Hz to over 200Hz.

Designed to deliver massive impact with low distortion, the Motiv Z-5/D Bass Horn cabinet hits hard up close and carries a long way. It uses a relatively high compression ratio to minimize driver excursion and to flatten and extend the upper frequency cut-off. The result is a very tight, punchy response for effective and realistic reproduction of extremely dynamic program material. It delivers the “punch” that direct radiators and band-pass boxes tend to lack.

Whereas horn loaded cabinets tend to be bigger than their direct radiating counterparts, the trade-off is that you generally require fewer horn loaded cabinets and considerably less amplification to reach your sound pressure level goals. In this area the Z-5/D excels. Like all horns, their low frequency response improves when they are coupled together. Better results are achieved when using two or more cabinets. Due to their efficiency, reliability and clarity at high levels, a Z-5/D system is a compact and cost-effective package.

The self-amplified Z-5/D with integrated DSP features a top-quality Powersoft class D amplifier that provides 2000Wrms for the 18” woofer, which has a 4” voice coil and is rated for 1200Wrms, 2400W program. The horn is 7.5 feet long and is folded into a cabinet that is 42” square by 22.5” high. Set-up is incredibly simple thanks to the built-in DSP . The system components are power-matched and protected from damage by the the built-in limiters and the exclusive BASSMAXX protection systems. The result is a reliable and consistent system that can eliminate hours of work from set-up and take down.

The Z-5/D is engineered to work hard and continue to work where others might fail. We’re confident that our boxes are the toughest, most reliable subwoofers available. That’s why the warranty even covers failed drivers, including burned voice coils, for 2 years from the date of purchase.
