BIAMP SYSTEMS DELIVERS AN INTEGRATED EMERGENCY PAGING SOLUTION FOR HOSPITALS
Posted on Monday, March 4, 2013

Vocia® 1.5 integrates with the Rauland-Borg Responder® IV and 5 Nurse Call system making hospitals quieter and more healing environments

BEAVERTON, Oregon — Biamp Systems, a leading provider of innovative, networked media systems, is pleased to announce the integration capability of Vocia 1.5 with the Rauland-Borg Responder Nurse Call system.

The purpose of developing the Vocia Text-to-Speech Nurse Call (TTS-1nc) device was to enable the automation and prioritization of critical paging messages in hospitals. This integrated capability removes the need for staff to pick up a telephone to make a page. It also decreases response time for first responders since pages are instantly sent from the nurse call system to the Vocia's TTS-1nc device, thus eliminating any delay caused by the paging system being busy.

Vocia was designed to meet the exacting specifications and critical requirements of voice evacuation and public address systems specifically for use in the healthcare, industrial, and transportation markets.

Traditional hospital paging systems rely on the "All-Call" process, which results in every message being heard by everyone in the facility. This approach often leads staff to naturally tune out pages in order to concentrate on the tasks at hand. Since Vocia provides superior zoning capabilities, pages are sent exactly where and when they are needed without distracting staff in other parts of the hospital.

The additional enhancements of Vocia 1.5 include a total of five software/firmware updates. Their features include expanded auto-repeat paging, live paging capabilities of up to 12 hours, support of compressed audio file formats for quicker message delivery response times between Vocia worlds.

With Vocia's new Responder integration capabilities, overhead paging is more intelligent and significantly contributes to a quieter, patient-centered healing environment. The Vocia TTS-1nc device is an example of what industry leaders can do when they come together to create a quality unified communications solution.
