When creating a virtual reference in Converge Console, be sure to reference audio post processing. If you reference the audio before the processing channel, any changes made to the audio signal will not be seen by the Acoustic Echo Canceller (AEC) and there can be echo heard at the far end until the AEC converges to the change.   Watch a short demonstration here
