Four Things Installers Will Love About the Updated Scissor Lift

Nov. 23, 2022 - The Draper Scissor Lift already has a lot of advantages over competitive products. Our patented third scissor keeps the unit more stable; we offer a wide selection of service position drop lengths; and we now offer easy-to-use IR and RF remote control.

Recent upgrades to the Scissor Lift SL and SLX also mean an even better experience for the installer. Here are four things installers will love about the updated Scissor Lift.

They use more common connectors.

Previous versions of the Scissor Lift used RJ11 connectors. While these connectors were fine performance-wise, not all installers carry them. RJ45 connectors are a much more common item in the installer’s toolkit. So, to make it easier for installers to make their own cables we switch the Scissor Lift over to RJ45.

Protection for projector settings.

One of the most frustrating things about ceiling installed AV equipment is what happens when there’s a power outage. Often it means you lose the settings on the equipment so you have to re-program show and service positions. But not with the updated Scissor Lift SL and SLX!

If power is cut after you’ve set up the show and service positions, the Scissor Lift settings won’t be lost and that means no more return trips to reset them! And that’s the case no matter how long the power is out!

We’ve made programming easier.

The Scissor Lift SL and SLX have always allowed installers easier access for maintenance or repairs. By being able to lower the projector below the “show” position to the “service” position, installers save time and money on projector maintenance.

Having additional stopping points can make programming the Scissor Lift more complex. So our engineering team took a long, hard look at the process of programming the control module. The result is a Scissor Lift that is much easier to program and install.

To begin the programming process, simply flip a switch and you’re ready to go! Our improved GUI gives more flexibility with less programming time on the computer required. And the easy-to-use RF and IR remote options mean simple operation and fewer customer callbacks.

UL for Peace of Mind.

Draper Scissor Lifts are now UL Listed to provide power for projectors up to 12 amps. Draper also offer 240V UL Listed lifts for domestic use.

UL Listing is the gold standard for proving product safety throughout the construction industry. The UL label immediately answers any concerns or questions about fire and shock hazard safety that might be on the mind of the building inspector.
