Evertz Launches XPS Series Real-Time UHD Streaming Platform for Reliable Broadcast Quality and Low-Latency Encoding Over Public Networks
Posted on Thursday, January 28, 2021

Burlington, Ontario — January 28, 2021 – Evertz, the global leader in media and entertainment technology solutions, introduces the XPS Series, its next-generation UHD/3G/HD streaming platform for contribution over IP networks. The XPS is a software-defined HEVC and H.264 10-bit 4:2:2 real-time encoding/decoding platform that is ideal for live or cloud-based applications where secure, high quality and low-latency is essential.

The XPS can be used for live sports and entertainment events, where it provides reliable and cost effective contribution encoding over private IP networks. In cases of breaking news events and Esports competitions, the XPS provides reliable and low-latency encoding over public networks using Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) or Reliable Internet Streaming Protocol (RIST). In today's COVID-19 environment, for remote or stay-at-home operations, the XPS provides low-latency remote monitoring of broadcast facilities or as an extension to production control room environments. Lastly, The XPS platform can be used as the on-ramp and contribution encoder for cloud production or playout hosted by public cloud providers. The agility and versatility of the XPS is unmatched in the industry.

The XPS is an easy-to-use platform that seamlessly integrates into Evertz' Software Defined Video Networking (SDVN) Orchestration, Monitoring and Analysis software. XPS are discoverable and can be added to IP networks where operators can visualize and route flows using Evertz' VUE interface. Advanced monitoring data is available to engineering staff, providing remote access to resolve issues from a central location ensuring uptime for live events.

"The launch of the XPS Video Streaming Platform comes at a critical time where the Sports, Media & Entertainment industry is experiencing a dramatic change due to the pandemic. Now, more than ever, companies need reliable solutions that enable remote production, remote operation and live production in the cloud," said Abdullah Merei, Evertz Senior Director of Engineering. "The XPS Video Streaming Platform allows Sports, Media & Entertainment companies to continue providing their global viewership with high quality content. XPS provides a hassle-free cost-effective streaming solution that can be connected over any network including the public Internet and delivers the highest video quality at the lowest latency and bitrate on the market."

The XPS is available in a number of form factors to meet any broadcaster's application. The 5782XPS is a module blade that fits into an Evertz 570FR to provide high-density encoding or decoding (up to 60 3G/HD or 15 UHD) in 3RU. The XPS-EDGE is a standalone appliance that supports up to four encodes, decodes or bi-directional (based on software license). The MIO-XPS is a module that fits

into Evertz' SCORPION Smart Media Processing Platform for highly customized workflows.
