For more than two decades, the „EY Entrepreneur of the Year” program in Hungary has celebrated exceptional business leaders. At this event, numerous prestigious awards are presented to top executives who have demonstrated exceptional performance, innovation, and impact in their respective fields.
Among these honors, the EY Innovator Award was presented to Gergely Vida, Founder and CEO of Lightware Plc. This recognition celebrates a business leader who builds a successful company on major innovations or drives outstanding growth through innovative developments in recent years.
Over the past more than 25 years, the strategy and vision of Gergely Vida have clearly demonstrated his ability to set long-term goals, achieve them, and continuously inspire renewal at Lightware.
From the founding of the company, he articulated an ambitious vision for the future: to build an innovative, internationally influential technology enterprise that not only responds to market demands but also sets new directions. A striking example of this came during the COVID period, when the entire events industry came to a standstill. Gergely quickly recognized the need to pivot in new directions. This brought corporate and educational AV markets into sharp focus areas where Lightware's presence had previously been limited, but which held significant growth potential. The strategic shift not only proved successful but also created a new product category - the USB-C-based Taurus product line, which quickly became one of the leading solutions for corporate meeting room technology and has since grown into one of Lightware’s most important technological pillars.
Over the past years, Lightware has strengthened its global position with a presence in more than 30 countries, through its proprietary technologies and advanced engineering expertise. The company is supported by hundreds of professionals around the world and continues to expand its international reach with 18 offices while maintaining a strong focus on innovation and research excellence.
