Deploying Operation Centers with Minimal Disruption
March 24, 2021 - It goes without saying, control rooms are the center of operations for many different organizations, in every imaginable vertical. These control rooms or, operation centers, leverage many technologies and disparate systems in order to meet mission objectives. Whether shepherding cargo into space or, protecting a public recreational area, there is a "control room for that". The question then becomes, how do you integrate the plethora of systems and appliances onto your large display surface, also known as the videowall.
It has become clear that IT departments all have a similar core task, to maintain the integrity of the existing network infrastructure. The easiest way for them to succeed is to minimize the amount of disruption introduced by adding a videowall solution. Though there are a vast number of benefits that come with having the videowall and an almost endless number of pixels, operations do not, or should not come to a standstill without it. So how does Jupiter meet the "not on my network" challenge? We do this by leveraging the customer's current infrastructure instead of having to insist on forklift upgrades. The key is to become another node on their network versus an entire new sub-ecosystem.
Jupiter's Canvas display-wall management solutions is a bespoke software solution. Various hardware options are there to augment software performance where and when needed. The architecture allows us to recommend only what the customer requires to achieve operational goals, whether in or outside of the building. Converting signals to propriety formats or, setting up a purpose-built network for the operation centers is often not desirable. This approach can often limit overall flexibility. Installing new software on operator workstations in order to manage the videowall infrastructure is often not desirable. Deploying custom hardware servers that the IT group needs to secure, learn/manage is not always desirable.
Maximum interoperability allows Canvas to acquire any existing source. From streaming video and security appliances, remote unattended servers, sensors, web, or any existing device that provides pixel and audio data. Canvas has the ability to connect to what is already in production, without having to re-adapt or reformat existing sources. All operational intelligence can be acquired, secured, and, transported to any number of videowalls as needed. This same flexibility can even be offered on the desktop, your personal videowall. A control room can be centralized but the display wall doesn't need to be.
All that being said, in cases where the extreme IS required, we can provide add-on appliance or even create custom (isolated) networks and workflows from the ground up. Experience has shown that minimal disruption is often more desired than not. That's what a bespoke solution provides.
