TASCAM ANNOUNCES IMPORTANT HS SERIES FIRMWARE UPDATE AND FILE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
Posted on Friday, October 21, 2011

New York, NY - AES Booth# 421 (October, 2011) - TASCAM, a world leader in recording devices, in its ongoing program of providing important firmware updates to its HS Series of products, has made available V1.20 – which provides a tape emulation mode for use with an editor/ synchronizer that supports the Sony P2 protocol using the RS-422 connector.

The tape emulation mode emulates linear time-based operation like that of tape. Using transport control via RS-422, the unit can be operated like a tape machine. With “00:00:00:00” as the tape starting point, each take is located by its start TC position.

The SONY P2 protocol REC command is now supported, and Chase can now be turned ON and OFF via RS-232C.

In addition, an Owner’s Manual page has been added addressing the importing of BWF format files recorded by other devices.

TASCAM is also making available file management software – MonoPoly Converter.

MonoPoly Converter is computer software that can be used to extract data from each channel of a poly (interleaved) BWF file recorded by a TASCAM HS series device. That data can then be converted into mono BWF files. This software can also combine multiple mono BWF files into a single poly BWF file.

After conversion, these files can be imported into and edited in Pro Tools and other DAW software. They can also be played back on TASCAM HS series devices. (After conversion, ordinary WAV files also become BWF files)
