Tech Specs
Environmental noise analysis with the TEFThe growing concern about noise pollution makes Sound Lab NLA software an ideal companion for the TEF analyzer. NLA records, displays on a line graph, and provides statistical noise information for periods as short as 1 minute or as long as 24 hours. It is also useful when designing and installing sound systems in places like gymnasiums, where noise is the primary inhibitor to intelligibility. Statistical noise analysis made easy. The many features of NLA include dual cursors, a real-time bar graph of the sound pressure level, and on-screen status indicators. For gathering data during concerts and other performances, the effects of crowd noise during intermission may be removed with muting. Statistical information is reported for Leq, Ldn, Lden, Ln, Lmin and Lmax. Data is updated and displayed continuously during the measurement for Ln, Lmin and Lmax. Included with NLA for input weighting are A, B, C, and ISO octave-centered filters (62 Hz thru 8 kHz). A calculation may be made for OSHA dose, with adjustable criterion level and exchange level parameters. A projection may be made to extrapolate the result to a full 8-hour work day. Other powerful features include the ability to start NLA anytime up to 24 hours in the future. And, by using AutoRepeat and AutoSave, several individual files may be combined into a single measurement to provide an overview of the entire measurement period. In addition to environmental noise analysis, the software may be used to record virtually any quantity (such as voltage and temperature) as a function of time at a resolution of down to a 1/10th of a second. Detailed noise measurements with NLA. Performing noise level surveys of a given location and ensuring compliance to community noise ordinances are just two of the examples of how you will use the Sound Lab NLA program.
  • Measurement type
  • Recording integrating sound level measurement displayed on a line graph

  • Measurement duration
  • Records data for files as short as 1 minute or as long as 24 hours
  • Time resolution selectable down to 0.09s intervals

  • Measurement control
  • Start from the keyboard or set to automatically start from 1 minute to 24 hours later.
  • Measurements may be set to repeat at same time daily.
  • Statistical information
  • Leq - The steady continuous level that would yield the same total sound energy over a given period of time as the varying measured levels
  • Ldn - A 24-hour Leq, except 10 dB is added to all levels measured between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am
  • Lden - A 24-hour Leq, except 5 dB is added to all levels measured between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm and 10 dB is added to all levels measured between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.
  • Ln - (selectable in 1 dB to 99 dB steps for levels 2 and three) Three percentiles of levels exceeded.
  • Lmin and Lmax - The minimum and maximum levels recorded
  • Statistical display allows visualization of number of occurrences of different levels

  • Scaling
  • Selectable scaling parameters or auto scale.
  • Selectable vertical scale: linear or dB

  • Cursors
  • Dual cursors display separate statistical information for the points between them

  • Input weighting
  • Flat, A, B, C, or ANSI centered octave bandpass filters

  • Calibration
  • Manually enter calibration constant for input sources or use auto calibration with a calibrated reference source such as a microphone and a calibrator or a calibrated signal on a recording.
  • Microphone and sound level calibrator not included.

  • On screen status indicators
  • Overload
  • Low signal

  • Date format
  • Month/day/year or day/month/year
