The Philadelphia Phillies selected McCann Systems to provide the audiovisual design and system integration for the reimagined Phillies Hall of Fame Experience at Citizens Bank Park. Working alongside project partners EwingCole and Jack Porter, McCann transformed a concourse space behind home plate into an immersive, interactive museum destination where fans can explore the history of one of Major League Baseball’s most storied franchises through dynamic exhibit storytelling.
Rather than relying on static displays and object cases, the goal was to create an environment where visitors actively engage with the team's history. The new Hall of Fame needed to accommodate thousands of visitors on game days while remaining intuitive to operate, reliable throughout the season, and flexible enough to support future content updates and rotating exhibits without significant infrastructure changes.
At the center of the exhibit is the World Series Display, anchored by a high-resolution LED video wall paired with an interactive touchscreen interface. Fans can trigger and explore championship moments, player highlights, archived footage, and curated historical content in real time, while synchronized audio enhances the exciting storytelling.
The arrival experience begins before visitors even enter the exhibit. Entry portal LED walls on both sides of the entrance, paired with distributed audio, welcome guests with dynamic video content and customized player walk-up music, immediately establishing the excitement and emotion of Phillies baseball before fans reach the first gallery.
Throughout the space, McCann integrated ultra-wide, recessed interactive touchscreen displays, giving fans additional opportunities to engage with historical content and player highlights at their own pace. A dedicated Uniform Display integrates LED video with physical artifacts, blending digital storytelling with tangible pieces of the team's history for a layered, interactive experience.
The experience concludes with the Phanatic Video Wall, a large-format LED display dedicated to celebrating one of professional sports' most recognizable mascots through engaging multimedia content, giving the exhibit a memorable, family-friendly close.
One of the project's greatest challenges was integrating multiple interactive museum experiences into a busy stadium concourse that sees significant visitor traffic during every home game, a very different operating environment than a traditional standalone museum with controlled visitor flow. The system needed to deliver responsive touchscreen interaction and synchronized media playback while remaining easy for stadium staff to manage throughout the season, without technical staff on-site full time.
McCann addressed these challenges by designing a centralized AV infrastructure built around AV-over-IP architecture. Rather than relying on traditional point-to-point signal distribution, network-based video routing allows exhibit content to be routed flexibly across the space while simplifying future expansion, rotating content, and system maintenance, ensuring the experience can be refreshed as team history continues to be written.
The system is anchored by a robust AV headend, housed within dedicated equipment racks and supporting video processing, audio amplification, Q-SYS control, networked audio processing, power conditioning, and remote service capabilities. A centralized control interface allows staff to manage display power, audio levels, source routing, and system operation from rack-mounted control panels or tablet-based interfaces, all designed and integrated by McCann.
Throughout the project, McCann worked closely with exhibit designers, architects, and content developers to ensure the technology supported the museum's storytelling rather than competing with it. Every display, interactive element, and audio system was carefully integrated into the architectural environment to create a memorable visitor experience while maintaining long-term reliability and ease of operation.
The completed Phillies Hall of Fame Experience demonstrates how thoughtfully integrated AV technology can transform a traditional sports exhibit into a modern, immersive museum destination. By combining interactive storytelling, large-format LED displays, flexible AV-over-IP infrastructure, and centralized system management, McCann Systems delivered an experience that allows generations of Phillies fans to connect with the team's legacy in entirely new ways.
