Black Box Introduces Modular Matrix Switchers
Posted on Tuesday, June 23, 2015

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, June 23, 2015 - Black Box Corporation (NASDAQ:BBOX), a leading technology solutions provider, today announced the introduction of the AVS series Modular Matrix Switchers. The full-scale, universal solutions allow matrix switching of up to 16 sources and 16 displays using any combination of legacy AV equipment and new digital systems.

The switchers support up to 4K video resolutions on HDMI, but can also switch seamlessly from older legacy video formats. “Although the world is moving to digital, there are still a multitude of AV interfaces around,” stated Black Box Global AV Product Manager, Erik Indresøvde. “This solution meets those needs with I/O cards for HDMI, DVI, VGA, analog video and HDBaseT for extension.”

From the flexible API controls to the seamless switching with built-in scaling and conversion, the Modular Matrix Switchers offer first-class flexibility and ease of use. Using the Modular Matrix Switchers, users can switch audio and video with up to 4K (Ultra HD) resolution as well as extend signals up to 230 feet (70 m) – or, 328 feet (100 m) with HDBaseT technology.

In addition to front-panel or IR remote control, the system has IR, RS-232 and TCP/IP control compatible with major control systems. The system features:

  • True crosspoint switching – any input to any output.
  • Ultra- fast switching for instantaneous display.
  • Smart EDID management.
  • HDCP compatibility.

“This system is ideal for corporate, government, military and education markets where signal management and distribution of high-resolution video signals and audio is crucial,” states Gina Dickson, Director of Global Product Management at Black Box.

Two configurable models will be available:

  • AVS800: The modular 8 x 8 chassis supports up to eight video inputs and eight video outputs across four slots.
  • AVS1600: The modular 16 x 16 chassis supports up to 16 video inputs and 16 video outputs across eight slots.
