The ONYX Series DVB-ASI Routing Switcher is a DVB-compliant head-end device for professional and broadcasting use. It is intended for switching and modulating of multiple program inputs in cable television systems or telecom networks. Switching sizes range from 8×8 to 128×128. Three frame versions are available: 2RU, 4RU and 8RU. This switcher supports by-pass protection from program input to program output without routing signals through the Cross-Point Switching Modules and the I/O Modules. Instead of deploying groups of input connectors and output connectors apart in different locations, the ONYX Series DVB-ASI Routing Switcher uses a distinctive design. It neighbors each group of input connectors with the corresponding group of output connectors in a pair. Each pair is configured with a dedicated mechanical by-pass switch which close to maintain the program output in the event of power failure or when the backplane is removed from the frame. It ensures reliability and safety for the whole system. The switcher can be controlled through the local front panel or the supporting control applications for cross-point switching or by-pass assignment. Multiple control interfaces include RS-232/422, TCP/IP, CAN and C-BUS. Redundant control and power supply is available in ONYX 2RU, 4RU and 8RU frames. The ONYX Series DVB-ASI Routing Switcher is widely used for head-end solutions in cable television and telecom network systems.
